Now’s the time to talk about Iberostar’s fully renovated Cretan seaside village resort, a superior property in the portfolio from where clients can both indulge in all the joys of the beach and pool, and easily discover local hidden gems.

The rooms, bungalows and common areas are fully renovated

All of the 361 bright and airy rooms – some with whirlpools – have been fully refurbished under and have a colonial theme, designed by architect Marios Ninos. They’re spread around the hotel’s tranquil environs, be that with waterfront views or amid the vast gardens.

Four room categories are split between “Double”, comprising Garden View Double, Sea View Double and Sea View Double Premium; “Family”, including Garden-View Family Room and Sea-View Family Room; “Bungalows”, comprising Waterfront Family Bungalow, Garden View Bungalow and Sea View Bungalow; and finally “Suite”, with Junior Suite Waterfront, Sea-View Superior Suite, Deluxe Sea View Suite and Deluxe Swim up Sea View Suite options.

Those familiar with selling Iberostar will know the brand places sustainability at its core, and the landscaped gardens have been populated with local plant species and iconic trees. Meanwhile, the property’s lobby and common areas have also been completely renovated.

Guests will love the tantalising restaurants and bars

Clients can celebrate a wide range of Greek gastronomy as well as international flavours in Creta Marine’s nine restaurants and bars, which provide natural, fresh and healthy homemade products.

“Vegghera”, the name of the Cretan taverna, is what Cretans call the moments when you linger chatting at the table after a leisurely lunch. In line with Iberostar’s Honest Food concept, the taverna serves traditional Greek dishes made from locally-sourced fresh ingredients in a bright and spacious setting.

The Italian restaurant is named La Locanda Trattoria – “locanda” being the word Italians use for a cosy, informal and welcoming inn that serves traditional homemade food. It’s a hybrid restaurant where starters are served at a buffet and mains at the table.

Elsewhere the Mediterranean restaurant Thalassa – so named after the ancient Greek goddess of the sea – specialises in preparing dishes made using fish in modern and sophisticated surroundings.

Other eateries include the Dias buffet restaurant and La Cantina Mexican food truck, while bars include the Thalassa premium cocktail bar; the Marine Lobby Bar; the Anatoli Ouzo bar; and the Helios pool bar.

It has three private beaches

Iberostar Selection Creta Marine provides direct and convenient access to three private sheltered coves with crystal-clear waters, from where this part of Crete’s stunning coastline can be appreciated.

Indeed, the Aegean Sea has spectacular marine life and clients can enjoy scuba diving or snorkelling to get to know the local species. Activities such as windsurfing and paddle surfing are also available, with the resort within easy reach of quaint local beauty spots.

Charming Cretan villages just minutes away include Rethymno, with its pretty Venetian harbour, quality range of restaurant and tavernas, long sandy beaches and fortress.

Margarites meanwhile is famous for its pottery – a local tradition since the Minoan times – and is thought of as one of the most important centres of pottery and ceramic art in Crete.

There are new fitness facilities and an improved spa

The hotel features three outdoor saltwater pools including wonderful sea views from the main pool, while, inside, guests can unwind in a heated spa pool. One of the outdoor pools is covered and heated during colder months.

For those feeling particularly active, the sporting facilities include a gym, a tennis court, volleyball and archery.

Children can let loose in the reinvented Star Camp

The Star Camp for kids has been reimagined too, catering for children aged 4-17 across Monkey, Dolphin and Eagle categories. Children are encouraged to interact and work together on games and other recreational and educational activities, with a view to making friends from around the world.
