Thailand is set to relax its Covid-19 testing requirements for fully vaccinated international arrivals next month.
From 1 March, visitors will be able to take a cheaper rapid antigen test on day five of their arrival, rather than a PCR test. They will still need to take a PCR on day one, and await the results in a hotel.
The new day five lateral flow tests can be self-administered, meaning travellers no longer have to make a hotel reservation to carry them out.
Thailand accepts the UK’s NHS Covid Pass as proof of vaccination, which must be shown by over-18s on arrival.
Visitors must also register with the Thailand Pass and pre-departure PCR tests will still be required. Non vaccinated travellers must quarantine on arrival at an approved hotel.
According to Channel News Asia, the Thai government will also reduce the amount of travel insurance coverage for visitors from $50,000 to $20,000.
