Trafalgar, Insight Vacations and Contiki parent The Travel Corporation has named a new leader for its touring division as the Tollman family prepares to exit the brand, which they’ve run for more than 100 years.
Melissa DaSilva, who most recently served as president of TTC Tour Brands North America, will succeed Gavin Tollman as chief executive of TTC Tour Brands, the group’s portfolio of six global touring brands, on an interim basis – effective immediately.
She brings more than 30 years’ travel industry experience to her new role with TTC, including nearly two decades with STA Travel. She has previously headed up both Contiki and Trafalgar as president. DaSilva will also support a search for her successor as TTC’s north American president.
Tollman, who will leave TTC later this year when its acquisition by US asset management firm Apollo completes, has headed up TTC Tour Brands since its inception and will support DaSilva during the transition.
"Melissa has consistently demonstrated her business acumen and leadership throughout her tenure as president of North America," said Tollman. "Her deep understanding of TTC Tour Brands’ diverse portfolio and her strategic vision make her the ideal choice to steer the company through this pivotal time."
DaSilva added: "I am excited and honoured to lead TTC Tour Brands through this important phase in its history. The opportunities ahead for the brands and the talented teams behind them are immense. Together, we will ensure a seamless transition and set a strong foundation for continued success."
A deal for TTC was announced in July and is expected to be concluded later this year, ending more than 100 years of private, family ownership and operation of the group, which also operates the Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, Costsaver and Luxury Gold brands.
