Thomas Cook has denied reports its owner Fosun is looking to sell the company.
The Chinese conglomerate acquired the Cook brand for £11 million in November 2019 before relaunching the business as an online operation in September 2020.
A spokesperson told TTG on Wednesday (16 November): “Fosun Tourism Group has no plans to sell Thomas Cook.”
According to Sky News, Fosun is “examining options”, including raising capital from an outside investor in the coming months and could explore selling a partial stake in Cook or the business as a whole.
An industry source told TTG they believed “all options are still on the table” when it came to Thomas Cook’s future under Fosun.
In the first half of 2022, Cook reported a 570% increase in business, with more than 42,000 bookings, with the company expecting to handle around 100,000 UK bookings this year.
