TTG Media has released a Climate Action Plan setting out how the business will halve its carbon emissions by 2030.
In April 2022, TTG Media joined hundreds of travel and tourism businesses in declaring a climate emergency, and signing the UN’s Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism.
Signing the declaration committed TTG Media to halving emissions by 2030 and reaching Net Zero as soon as possible before 2050; to delivering a climate action plan within 12 months and begin implementing it; and to reporting publicly on progress.
Over the last 12 months, TTG Media has undertaken an extensive project to measure the carbon footprint of all business operations and events for 2019 and 2022, with the support of TerraVerde Sustainability, and has now been able to set reduction targets between now and 2030.
TTG Media CEO Daniel Pearce said: "Since 2019, our purpose has been to champion a Smarter, Better, Fairer travel industry, and it is important to us that we practise what we preach. We are proud to be one of the few independent media businesses to have invested the time and resource into measuring our carbon impact and setting clear goals to halve that over the next seven years. We hope that by sharing our journey - which has really only just begun - we will encourage our travel trade community to take their first steps towards a more sustainable future too."
TTG Media’s Climate Action Plan aligns with the pathways of the declaration (Measure, Reduce, Mitigate, Collaborate) and includes areas of focus for 2023 and beyond.
Travel professionals looking to take the next steps on their own sustainability journey are invited to join TTG’s Fairer Travel Sustainability Forum on 4 July, 2023, as part of Fairer Travel Week.
