A Tui aircraft skidded off the runway while landing at Leeds Bradford airport amid heavy Storm Babet rain on Friday afternoon (20 October), forcing the airport to close.
Airport authorities confirmed to TTG that Tui flight TOM3351 arriving from Corfu “moved off the runway while landing”. The airport has been closed to allow for recovery work to take place.
Images posted to social media show the aircraft surrounded by emergency service vehicles after coming to a halt on the grass beside the runway.

“We are working with the airline, relevant operations teams and emergency authorities to address this situation and remove passengers from the aircraft safely,” an airport spokesperson said.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, which was called around 3pm, said there were no reported injuries or fires at the scene.
A Tui spokesperson said ground teams were supporting passengers. "We are aware of an incident at Leeds Bradford airport this afternoon during the landing of flight TOM3551. There are no reported injuries," they added.
LBA issued a further statement shortly before 5pm, which read: “We can confirm there are no reported injuries from this incident and that all passengers have now safely disembarked the aircraft. The airport is now closed.
"We are working with the airline, relevant operations teams and emergency authorities to resolve this situation and return services safely as quickly as possible. We ask passengers to contact their airline to check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport."
It comes after Tui on Thursday afternoon (19 October) shut two of its branches in Scotland due to the Storm Babet winds and rain in eastern Scotland.
