Tui Group’s chief executive and finance boss are set to lead the brand for the next three years after signing new contracts – giving them reign to carry on with work to transform the brand’s market position.
Agreeing new deals with the duo is a vote of confidence from Tui in a programme of transformation put in place by Sebastian Ebel and chief finance officer Mathias Kiep.
Ebel will continue in the top role until 2028 alongside Kiep. Both of their current contracts run until September 2025, but they have now been extended until September 2028.
Under Ebel’s leadership, Tui has put a focus on growing its hotel portfolio in Africa and Asia and opening sales to consumers in Spain, Portugal, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
Tui said it had been providing holidays worldwide “for decades” and would now use its global brand awareness “to win local customers in countries that have traditionally been Tui destinations”, adding: “This offers substantial potential for global customer growth.”
Ebel took over the top job in October 2022, having acted as chief finance officer during the pandemic. Kiep succeeded Ebel in his current role.
Ebel’s first two years saw Tui Group balance its books and repay government pandemic loans.
However, he has angered animal rights organisations by refusing to ban the sale of captive whale and dolphin attractions, putting the brand out of kilter with rivals Jet2holidays and easyJet holidays in the UK.
