Lancashire-based coach operator Alfa Travel becomes Real Living Wage Employer
The Chorley-based travel company, the Alfa Leisureplex Group, have been accredited as Real Living Wage employers by the Living Wage Foundation, voluntarily signing up to a commitment to pay more than the legal minimum wage. The commitment means that all employees of the Alfa Leisureplex Group will receive a minimum hourly wage of £12 per hour, regardless of age.
Employee-owned Lancashire based Alfa Leisureplex Group (ALG), the parent company of Alfa Travel and Leisureplex Hotels, owns 24 hotels in popular coastal resorts across the UK and has over 950 employee-owners.
Emma Russell, Managing Director of the Alfa Leisureplex Group, said: “As an employee-owned business our employees are the reason our customers return time and time again. We are committed to paying our employees a wage that makes them feel valued and appreciated, as well as ensuring it accurately reflects the real cost of living.
For a number of years, we have been focused on improving the renumeration of our employees and in 2024 we have invested a total of £2.7m in wages across the group. In addition to paying the real living wage we have also invested in pay for all of our employee owners, who received a minimum increase of 6% in April and we have also improved employee benefits and remain committed to making further improvements.”
The Alfa Leisureplex Group joins 15,000 other businesses across the UK who believe their employees deserve a fair wage that meets every day needs.
With the group consistently outperforming its targets, it is well positioned to strive towards aligning with the living wage recommendations annually. The Group’s commitment to excellent value for money, product innovation, care for the planet and community, and a trade-focused strategy, are the key reasons for its continued growth.
