Chorley-based Alfa Travel, which has already raised more than £60,000 for Re-engage this year, is undertaking a 25-mile walk starting at their headquarters in Euxton and ending at their Queen’s Hotel in Blackpool, just a short distance from the iconic Blackpool Tower.

Alfa Travel’s Really Big Ramble for Re-engage will take place on the 28th September with a group of employees and members of the Re-engage team taking part.

Alfa Travel’s Director of People Services, Sean Keely, commented: “It won’t be an easy challenge for most of us and it is a testament to our employee owners who are giving up their own time to raise money for such a great charity, that is so important to many of our customers.

Coach holidays are a great way to make new friends and socialise and we are delighted to be partnering with Re-engage to reduce loneliness, which is a very real problem for many older people.

As the UK’s only employee-owned travel group, our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we are hoping to raise around £100,000 each year to support this fantastic charity.”

Alfa Travel, part of the Alfa Leisureplex Group, announced Re-engage as their corporate charity partner earlier in 2024. As part of their drive to raise money for Re-engage, Alfa Travel organises fun fund-raising activities one day a week at each of their 24 holiday hotels, for customers to enjoy. Alfa Travel also have employees volunteering as Re-engage call companions, making regular contact with an older person living with loneliness.

Re-engage are committed to making life less lonely for thousands of older people each year. Ali Winter, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager at Re-engage, said: “Alfa Travel employees really are going the extra mile for us. Their enthusiasm and dedication to helping older people is truly inspiring. We wish all those taking part in the sponsored walk the very best and thank them for their magnificent efforts!”

If you would like to support the Alfa Travel team on their Big Walk, funds are being raised via their Just Giving page, which you can find at justgiving.com/page/alg-reengage.
