Nick Hughes returns to the role of TIPTO Chairman

Nick Hughes will take on the role of TIPTO Chairman for the association’s 26th year in operation, effective from 1 September 2024.

Taking the reins from current Chair Richard Forde, Hughes will steer the trade association into its 26th year drawing on a wealth of experience within high profile industry roles, his previous experience as a TIPTO supplier member, and of course his previous three-year tenure as TIPTO Chairman.

Hughes has a strong connection with TIPTO having first been involved with the association in the year 2000, just 12 months after its inception. From 2019 until 2022, Hughes held the Chairman position, which included helping the association to navigate one of the industry’s biggest issues in recent times, the COVID 19 pandemic. And, as the current Sales, Strategy & Partnerships Director at Scenic and Emerald Cruises – both TIPTO members since 2018 – Hughes has a proven track record in sales, marketing and commercial leadership.

Hughes comments: “My previous stint as Chairman has always felt like unfinished business given that it was dominated by COVID and my role, working closely with Spirit Marketing & Events, was to ensure the organisation could continue in its best form. Taking the TIPTO baton now gives me the opportunity to support our members in a positive environment, when the industry is thriving, as well as ensure it continues to offer the best-in-class training and engagement for its agents.

“It’s an honour to Chair once more and it comes with huge thanks to Richard for handing over the reins after a successful couple of years re-building the organisation and a fabulous 25th anniversary celebration.”

Hughes’ appointment comes after current Chair Richard Forde’s decision to step down following a successful two-year tenure. Forde comments: “I’m delighted to be handing the TIPTO reins to Nick, he is hugely respected and knows TIPTO inside out. His proven track record and his undeniably supportive nature will without a doubt take the association on to greater things for Year 26 and beyond.”

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair, it’s a challenge that has taught me so much and I know TIPTO will continue its upwards trajectory as an important resource for the industry”.
