For the first time, the operator has partnered with Ambassador Cruise Line, offering the chance to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event from the deck of their ship, Ambition.

On the day of the eclipse (12 August 2026), customers will sail to the viewing position off the south coast of Greenland. This is in the path of ‘totality’, close to the centre line of the eclipse shadow track.

Omega Breaks has arranged for astronomer, astrophotographer and ‘Sky at Night’ presenter, Pete Lawrence who has worked the operator for many years, to accompany the cruise. Under the watchful eye of Pete, with cameras and special equipment at the ready, all passengers onboard will, weather permitting, experience the full glory of the total solar eclipse from the deck of the ship.

Pete will give various presentations and advice during the cruise both before, during and after the main event on topics such as how to what to expect, how to photograph the eclipse from a moving ship, the weather prospects and safe viewing advice, plus three nights of star gazing in search of the Northern Lights.

Customers booking through Omega Breaks will enjoy a selection of extra exclusive treats only available to their customers onboard. This includes a cocktail party ahead of the big day, a dinner with Pete and his team one evening, and special presentations on past eclipses and the Aurora Borealis.

The cruise itinerary sets sail from Dundee and takes in the Faroe Islands, various locations in Iceland, and the Shetland Islands.

A 16-day option departs on 7 August 2026, priced from £3,999pp which includes flights to Glasgow and an overnight stay at the start and finish of the cruise, plus return coach transfers to and from Dundee.

A 14-day option departs 8 August, priced from £2,999pp. This enables customers to make their own way to Dundee to join the cruise or enjoy complimentary coach travel from 10 pick-up points.

Both also include 13 nights onboard Ambition with all meals and an Ambassador Expedition (Premium) drinks package worth over £500 per person.
