Hurtigruten has hired cruise expert David Chidley to strengthen and grow its trade ties in the UK following a restructure.
Chidley, who has previously worked for Royal Caribbean, Uniworld and Fred Olsen, has joined Hurtigruten’s UK sales team as an account manager. In his new role, Hurtigruten said Chidley will be responsible for managing existing key accounts and supporting their development.
Iain Powell, Hurtigruten vice-president sales and marketing UK and EMEA, said Chidley’s appointment came at an important time for the line as it launches new products to sit alongside its existing Coastal Express sailings.
"Our relationships with trade partners are integral to our success," said Powell. "Through David’s knowledge and experience, we can take our dedication and service to partners to new heights."
Chidley, who will take up his new role on Monday 13 May, added: "The cruise industry is a highly competitive space, and I’m raring to take on the challenge and use my skills and expertise to help Hurtigruten stand out among the trade.
"I look forward to working with James Howlett again, as well as the wider team, to deliver great results. I can’t wait to get started."
Chidley’s appointment follows Carla Hines promotion to head of sales EMEA and James Howlett to head of sales UK.
"Carla and James have both played a significant role in driving Hurtigruten’s success," Powell continued. "With the addition of David to the team, I look forward to delivering future growth for our Norwegian coastal and premium products."
