Royal Caribbean is to build a mini theme park-style destination near Mexico’s Costa Maya cruise port.
The Perfect Day Mexico development will be on Mexico’s Caribbean coast at Mahahual and is set to open in 2027. Royal Caribbean said the project would include a waterpark, pools, restaurants and bars and follow others such as at CocoCay in The Bahamas and Labadee in Haiti.
"Perfect Day at CocoCay has been a game changer for both our guests and our business,” said Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean Group president and chief executive, who added the Perfect Day Collection was designed to encourage repeat bookings.
The brand will also open Royal Beach Club Cozumel in 2026.
Royal Caribbean claims the Mexico development will be sustainable and will release more details “in the coming months”.
"I am sure that guests will be marvelled by the beauty that southern Quintana Roo has to offer but most importantly, the kindness of our people," said Mara Lezama, governor of the state of Quintana Roo.
