Even casual cruise industry observers know that rarely does a year pass by without MSC Cruises adding at least one new ship to its fleet.
MSC Cruises’ last new vessel was delivered 17 months ago, when Meraviglia-Plus ship MSC Euribia arrived in June 2023. So, it’s fair to say the clamour among MSC’s growing customer base for its next ship is sky high.
In less than five months’ time, MSC will welcome MSC World America, its second World-class ship and the sister ship to MSC World Europa, into its fleet.
MSC said the 22-deck ship represents “an important evolution for the cruise line’s successful World Class platform” and “will usher in a new world of cruising with re-imagined venues and concepts tailored specifically to the US market”.
In November, TTG was invited to see MSC World America being built in Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in northwest France.
The 6,782-passenger World America vessel will be named in Miami on 9 April 2025 and will operate a programme of eastern and western Caribbean sailings from PortMiami from 12 April.
Each of the seven-night voyages will call into the line’s private island – Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. Other ports of call include San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatan.
The new flagship will be the first to feature seven onboard districts, each offering its own atmosphere, facilities and experiences. The districts are Family Aventura, Aqua Deck, Zen Area, Galleria, Terraces, MSC Yacht Club and Promenade.
Across the ship, there will be 30 bars, lounges and dining venues.
Set in the Promenade district, All-Stars Sports Bar is one of the new onboard venues. Here passengers can grab a drink and watch a sports game while enjoying bar food and American-style dishes not available anywhere else on the ship.
At the heart of the Promenade district, passengers can find Paxos on the Go, offering Greek dishes in an indoor-outdoor restaurant.
Another new venue is The Loft in the Terraces district where passengers can watch live comedy, “duelling piano” shows and join karaoke nights.
MSC’s new North America cruise terminal will debut in PortMiami in 2025, coinciding with the launch of World America, which will operate its sailings from the terminal.
