Ireland has just gained its first Anantara in a striking building in Dublin’s Docklands.
Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel is the result of a significant renovation of Leading Hotels of the World member The Marker.
New restaurant Forbes Street by Gareth Mullins features locally sourced ingredients served in a contemporary manner with a “uniquely Irish twist”.
Guests also have a chance to join the executive chef on a visit to a salmon smokehouse and a seal- and dolphin-spotting boat trip from fishing village Howth, before learning how to make soda bread.
Other new bespoke activities include an evening with a traditional “seanachai” storyteller and a racing experience with a leading horse trainer.
The hotel’s 187 refurbished bedrooms, spread over six floors, include 18 junior corner suites and three large executive suites, the most spacious of which, the fifth floor Presidential Suite, offers two ensuite bedrooms and separate living spaces.
A stylish rooftop terrace boasts views across the cityscape to the sea at Dublin Bay.
In the spa, an infinity pool, sauna and steam room will be complemented by treatments inspired by indigenous Irish ingredients.
This is Anantara’s seventh property in Europe and comes just after the opening of Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, the brand’s second in Italy.
The 52-room Amalfi property is set in a restored 13th-century cliffside convent which retains its ornate cloisters and Baroque church.
’Sensory’ tasting menus with convent-grown ingredients and an alfresco pizzeria led by internationally renowned pizza master Gino Sorbillo are among dining options.
Local gurus including one of the few remaining Franciscan friars in the region will be involved in guided guest experiences.
