Belmond is set to launch the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales, marking the latest addition to the renowned hospitality provider’s portfolio.

The Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train will make its maiden voyage in July 2025, offering a choice of three routes departing from London to one of the following: Cornwall, The Lake District or Wales. Each journey will last three nights and aims to showcase lesser-known attractions to its discerning clients.

The Britannic Explorer will feature 18 cabins, including three Grand Suites and 15 regular suites. Inspired by Britain’s natural beauty, the interior design of all accommodations is soft and elegant with earthy finishes for a timeless effect.

Guests can expect fine dining curated by renowned British chef Simon Rogan, who is best known for his seasonal, ‘farm-to-table’ culinary approach. The triple Michelin-starred restaurateur will showcase his talents across the three routes, all of which include bespoke afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus, with a focus on sustainable and local ingredients.

There will also be a botanically-inspired bar in the Observation Carriage, where passengers can enjoy cocktails, craft beers and gins from the UK’s finest independent breweries and distilleries.

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, a sub-tropical garden with unique art installations near Penzance, is also on the agenda for those on the Cornwall route.

There will also be an on-board wellness suite providing a number of spa therapies for passengers who want to unwind after a long day.

Guests travelling from London can book into Belmond’s boutique hotel, The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, London, a 20-minute transfer from Victoria station. For those on the Lake District route, the Britannic Explorer offers an exclusive stop at the two-Michelin starred hotel and restaurant, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel, Oxfordshire.

Journeys on the Britannic Explorer start from £11,000 based on a double cabin to include a 3-night itinerary, excursions, meals, wine and alcoholic beverages on board.
