The Hoxton is set to rapidly expand its portfolio of hotels in the next 18 months, with seven new openings lined up in key cities around Europe.
The brand’s fourth London hotel will debut in Shepherd’s Bush this December, followed by its second Amsterdam property and its first opening in Brussels in spring 2023.
Summer 2023 will also see the opening of the brand’s first hotels in Berlin and Edinburgh, with Vienna set to follow later in the year, and a new property in Dublin slated to open in early 2024.
The new 237-room hotel in the west London neighbourhood will face onto Shepherd’s Bush green with a large open lobby area containing vintage seating and cosy corners arranged around a bar and terrace intended to be a community hub, as well as a welcoming area for guests. Reflecting the chain’s focus on destination dining – which equates to 50% of its profits at some properties – the new hotel will also feature Thai-Americana restaurant Chet’s.
The Hoxton’s Belgian debut will feature 198 1970’s-inspired rooms in a Brutalist Brussels building with a double-height lobby, bar and restaurant, plus a roof terrace with views over the city.
Meanwhile the new 136-room Amsterdam property in the city’s Eastern Docklands district will be housed within a 1920s heritage building incorporating original architectural features, with a large lobby, restaurant and outdoor terrace.
The brand is also completely transforming a former hotel in west Berlin’s Charlottenberg district to become a Hoxton with 234 Art Nouveau-inspired rooms, an open lobby, cocktail bar, restaurant, and coffee shop set to open next summer around the same time its Edinburgh property will be completed.
The Hoxton’s first Scottish hotel will be split across 10 stitched-together Georgian townhouses on either side of Edinburgh’s Haymarket, offering a lobby, restaurant, events space and a gallery to showcase the city’s rich culture and creativity.
As well as expanding into Scotland, the hotel group is adding its first Irish hotel to its portfolio, slated to open in Dublin in early 2024 on the site of the former Central Hotel and Library Bar on Exchequer Street, which will be restored and ravamped with 129 rooms, an open lobby, cafe and wine bar, restaurant, and a late-night music venue – a first for The Hoxton brand.
The Hoxton Vienna will also join the fold late in 2023, comprising 196 bedrooms, a spacious lobby, coffee bar, restaurant and terrace, rooftop bar and pool plus a basement speakeasy, set inside a 1950s modernist building that is the former headquarters of Austria’s Chamber of Commerce.
According to The Hoxton, the planned expansion reflects the strong bounceback it has seen since the challenges of the pandemic, with many of its properties now matching pre-pandemic levels and making record-breaking restaurant revenue.
