Airbnb has made permanent the temporary ban on parties it first introduced in August 2020.
The company previously allowed hosts to "use their best judgment" and authorise parties when appropriate for their home and neighbourhood.
In late 2019, it tightened measures to prohibit both "open-invite" parties and "chronic party houses" which had developed into "neighborhood nuisances".
When the pandemic hit, the firm began to see some customers take partying to rented homes, including through Airbnb, which lead to the initial party ban.
Disruptive parties and events will continue to be prohibited, including open-invite gatherings. "Party house" properties will continue to be strictly prohibited as well. However, the company has removed its 16-person occupancy cap.
A spokesperson said: "This new and long-term policy was enacted to help encourage and support community safety. We look forward to sharing updates in the coming weeks and months on our efforts to complement our community policies on parties."
