Flights between London City airport and Antwerp have resumed after Luxair stepped in to operate the route.
The four-times-weekly service got under way on Monday (16 January), and will increase to five-times-weekly in April.
Luxembourg’s Luxair is operating the route using a 78-seat De Havilland Dash DHC-8-Q400 aircraft. Flights depart City at 6.40am with a flight time of one hour. Fares lead in from £45pp.
London City said the route was emblematic of its 2023 aviation strategy, which will aim to connect London with more "underserved" European cities.
Anne Doyere, London City director of aviation, said the airport had "long coveted" a resumption of the Antwerp route.
"I am delighted Luxair sees its potential, not least because it will be the only direct connection between these two dynamic, culturally rich, European cities," said Doyere.
"The pandemic eroded some of London’s direct connections to European cities, and we believe restarting them will not only be good for passengers, but for business and the economy too."
