A strike by more than 150 security officers and terminal technicians at Birmingham airport, which had been due to get under way on Tuesday (18 July), has been suspended.
The Unite union has called off plans for "all-out indefinite strike action" at Birmingham to ballot its members on a new pay deal following last-ditch talks on Monday (17 July).
Unite regional officer Sulinder Singh said: “Unite’s members have agreed to suspend strike action while they are balloted on the new offer. We will be making no further comment until the result of the ballot is announced."
The union though has signalled that if the offer is rejected, a period of indefinite strike action will get under way on Tuesday (1 August).
TTG has approached Birmingham airport for comment.
The action was initially called in June, with Unite stepping up its threat earlier this month, criticising BHX for failing to reflect the cost of living challenges facing many workers.
Tui on Monday said it was working on contingency planning "to minimise disruption as much as possible" for its passengers.
