British Airways has launched a new route to Istanbul, flying to the Anatolian side of the city.
BA will operate a four-times-weekly service to Sabiha Gokcen airport on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The first flight touched down at Sabiha Gokcen, which is named after the world’s first female fighter pilot, on Thursday (1 June).
BA will operate the route using a mix of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen airport serves 154 onward destinations across 51 countries.
In honour of the airport’s namesake, BA laid on an all-female flight crew for the inaugural flight, with captain Jessica Telford and first officer Kerry Bennett taking the helm.
