Former Thomson Airways boss Chris Browne is being tipped as one of the frontrunners for the top job at easyJet.
Browne, who is the budget airline’s chief operating officer, is reported by The Sunday Times to be a key candidate for the post, which will be vacant after Carolyn McCall leaves to take up the role of chief executive of ITV at the end of the year.
Browne joined easyJet as a non-executive director early last year, but took on a full-time role in October. She has also previously served as Tui’s chief operating officer, aviation, after her Thomson Airways role.
Whoever succeeds McCall will be faced with the task of steering the airline through Brexit and the challenges that the weaker pound has brought.
