Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship – Carnival Celebration – has successfully completed its first round of sea trials in the Baltic Sea.
The vessel set sail for its tests on Monday (5 September) from Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the same shipyard where Celebration’s sister ship – Mardi Gras – was built.
Celebration had a full contingent of officers, technicians and engineers onboard to test its technical, mechanical and navigational systems.
It comes ahead of the vessel’s debut in its homeport of Miami. Following an inaugural six-day voyage to the Eastern Caribbean, Celebration will launch year-round, seven-day cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from its homeport on 21 November.
Captain Vincenzo Alcaras said: "Carnival Celebration underwent several tests, which are meant to determine the ship’s capability and her performance. We’ve done many manoeuvring tests, such as endurance tests, steering tests, speed tests and thrusters tests."
