Center Parcs has dropped plans for a new location near Gatwick following the results of an environmental survey.
The decision to scrap the new village came after the company carried out environmental and ecological site surveys, which concluded Oldhouse Warren – the proposed site – would not be a suitable location.
The brand will now continue its search for an area to build its sixth UK development, claiming there is still strong consumer demand for an additional park.
In July 2021, the operator secured an option agreement to buy the 553 acres of woodland south of Crawley, and announced plans to build up to 900 lodges catering for 4,500 guests.
In a recent trading update, the company said: "We have a longstanding record of enhancing the habitats in which we build our villages and at the very heart of this is choosing a site that meets our specific environmental and social requirements."
