A major cruise line has threatened disruptive passengers with an up to US $500 fine should they engage in unruly behaviour.
The Independent reports Carnival Cruise Line had added a disruptive behaviour clause to its Cruise Ticket Contract.
Should a passenger breach the clause, they will not only be fined up to US $500, but could also be liable for other expenses incurred by the line as a result of their actions.
According to The Independent, the clause reads: "Any guest whose conduct affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or wellbeing of other guests or crew will be detained onboard and/or disembarked at their own expense and will banned from sailing on Carnival in the future.
"Any violation of this clause may result in a fine to the guest in the amount of $500 and reimbursement of expenses incurred by Carnival as a result of the detainment or disembarkation."
A spokesperson for the line confirmed the move. It comes after Carnival ship Carnival Legend was, in 2018, forced to make an unplanned stop following a mass brawl to disembark a number of passengers.
