The Department for Transport has gained a new minister as prime minister Liz Truss continues her efforts to build a new government.
Torbay MP Kevin Foster has been appointed minister of state at the Department for Transport.
He will serve under new transport secretary, former secretary of state for international trade, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, who replaced Grant Shapps as transport secretary on Tuesday (6 September).
The DfT is yet to detail former Home Office minister Foster’s responsibilities within the department.
At the Home Office, Foster latterly held the role of minister for safe and legal migration. Prior to that post, he was minister for immigration.
The DfT confirmed Foster’s appointment on Wednesday, whereby he tweeted: "Delighted to join the team at Transport led by @annietrev [Anne-Marie Trevelyan]."
He will report to Trevelyan along with parliamentary under secretary of state at the DfT, Robert Courts, who retains his responsibility for the aviation and maritime sectors.
Elsewhere, former transport minister Kelly Tolhurst, meanwhile, has been appointed minister of state at the Department for Education.
