Maria Azcue from Aer Lingus, Katie Carter from Virgin Atlantic and Carrie Harris from British Airways have been hailed as some of travel’s leading female advocates and role models by the latest edition of a new index.
Diversity and inclusion community WiTHL – Women in Travel, Hospitality and Leisure – has published the fourth edition of the Women to Watch and Role Models for Inclusion in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure Index.
The index, produced in partnership with the MBS Group, highlights the "depth and breadth" of female talent in the industry by including profiles of dozens of senior women recognised for their commitment to sector.
Other female travel leaders named in the index include Luz Batista from Avis Budget Group; Lucy Branch and Georgina Warren from IHG Hotels and Resorts; Rosie-Ellis Brothwood from Away Resorts; Hilton’s Nicola Burke; Wyndham Hotels and Resorts’ Eva Chan; and easyJet’s Laura Edwards and Anna Knowles.
It also includes a section entitled Role Models for Inclusion, which celebrates people from any gender and background who champion inclusion and diversity within their organisations and communities.
Tea Colaianni, founder and chair of WiHTL, said: "I have no doubt that the professional and personal stories we have highlighted will inspire the next generation of talent to enter and progress within our exciting and inclusive sector."
Nominations for the Women to Watch category were sought for women who "stand out from their peer groups" and excel in leadership, commercial impact, entrepreneurialism, innovation and wider contribution to the sector and society.
