Explora I, the first ship to be launched by MSC Group’s Explora Journeys, has completed sea trials ahead of its maiden voyage this summer.
The vessel, the first of up to six ships to be built for the luxury line, will now undergo final preparations before embarking on its inaugural sailing in July.
Explora Journeys’ second ship, Explora II, will enter service in 2024.
The naming ceremony of Explora I will take place in Civitavecchia on 8 July before the ship departs on its maiden voyage from Southampton on 17 July, sailing a 15-night itinerary to the Norwegian fjords.
Michael Ungerer, chief executive of Explora Journeys, said the ship passed its trials “with flying colours”, claiming the vessel would offer the “perfect combination of luxury, adventure, and sustainability”.
