Hoseasons has stopped taking new bookings from the trade for the foreseeable future to focus its attentions on helping agents move or rebook clients’ trips impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
The UK holiday specialist told TTG it informed trade partners of its decision at the start of the outbreak, and was now working through trade bookings for holidays due to take place up to 21 May.
In a statement Sally Henry, sales director at Hoseasons’ parent Awaze UK, said trade bookings were a priority, but warned the company’s call centres were experiencing "unprecedented demand".
"Our number one priority during these exceptionally difficult times is to look after our existing customers whose travel dates are having to be moved," said Henry.
"We are currently experiencing unprecedented demand in our call centres, but are doing everything possible to help our partners in the trade move and rebook their customers’ holidays due to arrive on or before 21 May."
On pausing sales through the trade, Henry added: “To ensure all our commercial partners were kept up to speed, we directly contacted travel agents at the start of the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK to explain we are unable to accept new bookings until further notice.
"We are continuing to provide updates as and when government advice changes."
