Explore Worldwide, Inghams, Inntravel, Esprit Ski and Santa’s Lapland have shut down their IT systems following a cyberattack.
The brands, owned by Hotelplan UK, were hit by IT disruption over the weekend across several systems. Hotelplan disclosed the attack on Tuesday (12 December).
“Unfortunately, our initial investigations have confirmed that this disruption has been caused by a cybersecurity incident,” it said in a statement. “As a result, we have taken steps to isolate and shut down key systems.”
Hotelpan added it was taking the same precautions across all five brands. “We are now working hard to restore our systems; and in parallel, we are conducting a thorough investigation to understand the precise scope and nature of the disruption," the statement continued.
“We are implementing workarounds to minimise the disruption to our customers, partners and suppliers. However, please note that you may experience some delays over the coming days. Please bear with us.
“We are working hard to resume the level of service that you expect from us and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience. Customers are departing as normal. Travel agents, suppliers, partners and customers can contact us via their normal channels.”
Hotelplan UK chief executive Joe Ponte added: “This has no impact on holidays and trips that are already booked.
“Our team is working around the clock to get all of our brands fully operational again so we can resume the level of service that agents, partners and customers expect from us. We regret any delays. We take all matters of cybersecurity extremely seriously.”
Hotelplan UK said its brands would likely become fully operational again “at different points in time”.
