Booster jabs will be added to the NHS Covid Pass, Boris Johnson has confirmed, with the prime minister also intimating that booster jabs will be a condition of qualifying as fully vaccinated.
Johnson made the comments at an impromptu Covid briefing on Monday afternoon (15 November) which came after it was confirmed the age threshold for being offered a booster jab would be lowered to 40 and above.
Michael from Staffordshire asked the PM: "Increasingly, foreign countries are demanding proof of booster Covid vaccination for entry to those countries and to public places.
"Why has the UK government not added the booster dose to the NHS Covid Travel Pass? Is the booster going to be added, and when?
Johnson replied: "We will be making plans to add the booster dose to the NHS Covid Pass."
He also urged anyone planning to travel overseas to ensure they take up the offer of a booster jab.
"I think the general lesson is for anyone who wants to travel, you can see that getting fully vaccinated with a booster is going to be something that will on the whole make your life easier in all kinds of ways, including for foreign travel," said Johnson.
"I would just say, if you’re thinking about this, it is yet another reason to get it done."
