An operator has urged members of the trade’s LGBTQ+ community, and allies, to submit their travel selfies for a new national TV ad campaign designed to encourage people to ’holiday as you are".
LGBTQ+ specialist Chillimix plans to use the images to create a collage highlighting diverse travel experiences which will feature as part of a three-month summer push on ITV.
Launched on Tuesday (19 April), Chillimix’s "Be The Star" campaign is giving B2B and B2C travel professionals to appear in the advert. It will debut in July and run for three months.
Speaking to TTG, David McDonald, managing director of Chillimix and north west independent agency World Travel Lounge, said the advert was “a way to give back” to the trade following the operator’s B2B launch.
He said the aim was to create a collage of as many images as ITV could fit on screen. Anyone wanting to take part by submitting a picture can do so via the Be The Star website.
Agents wishing to be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a place on Chillimix’s end of year fam trip should use their work email addresses. More details of the fam, including the destination, will follow later this year.
McDonald founded Chillimix in November 2020 with former Attraction World business development manager Nicky Yates, who is the operator’s trade partnerships manager.
It has since secured an Atol and is now focused on signing up agent partners to its distribution network.
McDonald said: “Fundamentally, the concept of the advert is a journey through someone’s life. It’s about holidaying as who you are.
"In the end, we want as many LGBTQ+ photos as we can to do a collage. It would be amazing to get around 1,000 pictures on screen.”
The deadline for selfie submissions will be 30 April.
