Coronavirus has quickly spread around the world, affecting travel to a large number of countries – many of which have introduced stringent travel restrictions.
The Foreign Office (FCO) has issued new travel advice for many countries, and has advised against all but essential travel to several key destinations – including the US, Spain and Sri Lanka.
Restrictions vary from country to country, but they range from border closures, curbs on visa issuance, and quarantine and screening measures.
Measures are subject to change at short notice, while FCO advice can take several hours to several days to reflect new restrictions in some countries.

From 20 March at 11.59pm, Anguilla will close its air and sea ports for 14 days.
The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Argentina.
This is due to internal travel restrictions implemented by the country.
These include a 30-day suspension of all international flights from the UK, as well as the whole of Europe, the US, China, Japan, South Korea and Iran.

A blanket travel ban on non-residents will be in force from 9pm on 20 March. There are exemptions for citizens, residents and their family members.
The FCO is advising British people in Australia to contact their airline, travel provider and insurance company.

Barbados will be enforcing a two-week quarantine on anyone arriving from the US, UK or Europe from 22 March.
The country had previously identified China, South Korea, Iran and Italy as high-risk countries with widespread transmission of Covid-19.
The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to the Bahamas.
From 19 March, foreign nationals who have in the last 20 days travelled within the UK or other parts of the UK will be denied entry.
Travellers can expect disruption to flights and should contact their airlines, travel agents and tour operators, the FCO has said.

The FCO is not only advising against all but essential travel to Bulgaria, but also for any British tourists in the country to leave as soon as they can.
This comes as Bulgaria declares a national State of Emergency and introduces stringent measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
These include a temporary travel ban for British nationals entering Bulgaria from 18 March.

According to Asia specialist Exo Travel, from Friday 13 March, all entry of travellers through waterways will be halted, effectively ending cruises on the Mekong between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Arrival by air or land remains open, and the country’s visa-on-arrival scheme and e-visa facilities are reportedly functioning.
The Foreign Office is advising travellers comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the Cambodian authorities.

The Foreign Office is advising against all travel to China’s Hubei Province, and all but essential travel to the rest of mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macao).
Hubei Province is home to Wuhan, the city where the coronavirus outbreak is believed to have started.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Cyprus.
This follows controls and restrictions imposed by the Cypriot authorities, and includes requiring British nationals to vacate their tourist accommodation by 21 March.
Since 15 March, UK nationals (and other non-Cypriots) are not permitted to enter Cyprus for tourism, and as of 16 March, any arrivals must present a medical certificate and enter 14 days quarantine in state facilities.
These restrictions are due to remain in force until 30 April.

The FCO is advising against all but essential travel to the whole country.
From midnight on 13 March, UK citizens without permanent or temporary residency will not be permitted to enter the Czech Republic.
New measures to contain Covid-19 were expected to come into force on 16 March.

The Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel to the Dominican Republic, due to travel restrictions imposed by the Dominican government.
The country’s government has suspended all flights between the Dominican Republic and the UK (as well as the whole of Europe, China, South Korea and Iran). This suspension came into effect at 6am local time on 16 March for one month.
A quarantine requirement is being imposed for visitors who have been in any of the listed countries during the previous two weeks and cruise ships are not being allowed to dock in Dominican ports.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Egypt.
Egypt is set to suspend all international flights as of 19 March until 31 March, Egyptian prime minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed on 16 March.

From 16 March, overseas arrivals will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Authorities have also closed public meeting places, bars, restaurants, museums and archaeological sites, as well as beach clubs and shopping malls.
There is also a ban on all cruise ships landing in Greek ports.

The country has declared a state of emergency and plans to close its borders to all foreign citizens.
The FCO is advising Britons who wish to leave to make arrangements to do so as soon as possible.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to India.
Airlines will not permit passengers from the UK, EU and Turkey to board planes from midday GMT on 18 March, the FCO has confirmed. The restrictions are due to be in place until at least 31 March.
India has suspended all existing visas for the country from midnight on 13 March.
The FCO also advises against all but essential travel to the state of Kerala for British people already in India.

Overseas arrivals are required to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival.
Travellers must be able to demonstrate they have access to adequate accommodation to isolate themselves somewhere other than in a hotel.

The Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel to Italy.
British nationals in the country must follow the advice of Italian authorities. Authorities have advised against travel for tourism purposes throughout Italy, while tourists already in Italy should limit their movements to those necessary to return to the place where they live.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Lebanon.
The country’s borders will close on 19 March, and Beirut Rafik Hariri airport will shut. The FCO has warned there will be no routes out of Lebanon for British nationals from that date.

The Maldivian government has banned anyone who has left or transited through the UK in the last 14 days from midnight on 18 March.
It has also imposed a temporary ban on all cruise ships from entering and docking in the country.
Guest houses and hotels on all the islands are also not allowed to accept any new bookings for 14 days

Visitors have been told to leave as soon as possible. British nationals are advised to contact their tour operator or travel company.

New restrictions on travel to Malaysia will come into force on 18 March. Entry for foreign nationals will be restricted until 1 April.
All flights into Malta will also be suspended from 21 March.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Montenegro.
It follows new local authority measures to halt the spread of the coronavirus. British nationals who wish to leave the country are advised to make arrangements to do so as soon as possible.
The country will require all arrivals to complete 14 days self-isolation. Many shops, bars and restaurants are closed, and hotel services have been curtailed.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Myanmar.
This, the FCO says, is owing to the risk of British travellers being quarantined upon arrival.
It is advising any British people in the country to leave, if they can.

Prime minister Jacinda Ardern has also announced a ban on cruise ships calling at New Zealand “until at least June 30”.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Norway.
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is asking travellers who are not Danish, Finnish, Icelandic and Swedish, and who are not residents of Norway, to leave the country.Anyone still wishing to travel to Norway will have to self-quarantine for 14 days; travellers with symptoms of Covid-19 will be isolated.
Additionally, all visitors who arrived after 27 February will also have to self-isolate for 14 days.
A number of Norwegian ports are also considering putting restrictions on cruises.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Poland.
This follows an announcement that Poland will close its borders from midnight on Saturday 14 March in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Some airlines have agreed with the Polish government to run repatriation flights, according to the FCO. Travellers are advised to contact their airline for more information.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to the Madeira and Azores archipelagos.
Arrivals will be asked to complete a questionnaire during their flight, screened, and likely have to self-quarantine for 14 days.
Cruise ships and yachts are currently not permitted to dock at any port in the Azores, Madeira or Porto Santo.
The FCO further advises that flights from the whole of Portugal to countries outside the EU/EEA, except the UK, USA, Canada, Venezuela, South Africa and Portuguese-speaking countries, have been suspended.
Additionally, Portugal declared a state of emergency on 18 March. This means public gatherings are banned and most shops - excluding food stores or pharmacies - are closed.

The government is advising against all but essential travel to Saint Lucia.
As of 17 March, any non-St Lucian national with a travel history in mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Iran or the UK, within the past 14 days, will not be permitted entry.
From 16 March, cruise have not been permitted to dock in St Lucia.

The FCO is advising against all but essential travel to Seychelles.
From 8pm on 18 March, travellers coming from the UK or the European Union will be barred from entering the country.
Only returning residents are exempt, but they will be placed in quarantine for 14 days on arrival.
It also applies to anyone who has simply transited through the UK.

As of 11.59pm on 16 March, anyone travelling from, or having visited, the UK in the last 14 will be issued a 14-day stay at home notice on arrival. Travellers will be required to provide proof of where they will be able to serve the order, such as a hotel or private residence.
No cruise ships are currently allowed to dock in Singapore.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Slovenia.
It follows the Slovene government’s decision to halt all air traffic from 11.59pm on 16 March, including all flights to and from the UK.

This comes after the country introduced a raft of measures to contain coronavirus, including closing its borders to people from a number of countries with confirmed cases of Covid-19, including the UK.

It is the most popular destination for British holidaymakers, according to the Office of National Statistics.
The measures also apply to the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands.
Additionally, all hotels and short-stay accommodation in Spain is due to shut imminently, the FCO has warned.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan government has decided people arriving from the UK, or who have travelled through the UK, will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka from midnight (6.30pm GMT) on 16 March.

The FCO is advising against all travel to Tunisia.
Britons travelling in Tunisia have been urged to leave the country "as soon as possible".
Flights between Tunisia and all other countries, including the UK, will be suspended on 18 March, the FCO has said.
A countrywide curfew also came into effect on 18 March, between 6pm and 6am.
"If you are already in the country, you should urgently contact your airline or tour operator and arrange to leave as soon as possible," the FCO added.

The country has cancelled all flights from the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates from 8am on 17 March.

From 19 March, the United Arab Emirates is only allowing UAE citizens to enter. It has also suspended the issuance of new visas.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to the United States.
President Donald Trump confirmed foreign nationals from all 26 countries in Europe’s Schengen area, as well as the UK and Ireland, are now effectively banned from travelling to the US.
The restrictions will remain in place for an initial 30 days.
British travellers will not be able to fly to the country from 4am on 17 March.

The Foreign Office is advising against all but essential travel to Vietnam.
This, it said, is due to the high risk of travellers being quarantined.
Vietnam announced it will close its borders to all foreign nationals from 5am on 15 March for the next 30 days, if in the previous 14 days they have been to the UK or any Schengen area country. This includes transit.
