Manchester airport is set to open 27 new restaurants and shops as part of a £1.3bn transformation of Terminal Two.
The northern hub announced on Thursday (4 May) the brand-new terminal will have a food market serving several different cuisines as well as a high-end shopping area called The Avenue.
“We already have a great range of food and drink options in Terminal Two, with local brands which create a strong sense of place, but we’re looking to build on that with all-new offerings, including a Champagne Bar and a market hall style food court,” said retail director Richard Jackson.
These include Mancunian favourites such as burger and shake chain Archie’s to coffee brand Pot Kettle Black.
The announcement comes as part of the second phase of the airport’s transformation process, which focuses on remodelling and upgrading Terminal Two. According to predictions, more than 80% of the hub’s passengers will travel through the second terminal once the works are complete in 2025.
“The first phase of the project saw some exciting brands come on board, but we’re now keen to build on that and provide a more varied and comprehensive retail experience to cater for the tastes of the millions of passengers who will pass through the terminal’s doors,” Jackson added.
Airport authorities are currently looking for retailers selling toys, fashion as well as accessories and travel essentials.
