Air Transat is now offering passengers travelling to Canada from the UK and Ireland in economy the opportunity to take their pets in the cabin with them.
The new service aims to provide passengers with greater peace of mind when travelling with their animals.
The majority of flights will welcome cats and dogs 10kg or less (including the weight of the cage) on board. The animals must be kept in a cage and placed under the seat in front of the traveller.
Passengers interested in booking their pets a place on an upcoming flight can reserve the service by filling in the online request form or calling the airline. Subject to availability, reservations for pets can also be made on arrival at the departure airport. However, on arrival the number of animals travelling in the cabin is limited.
The price per flight, per animal in the cabin, is £58 for flights from the UK to Canada. A CAD $30 fee (plus tax, per animal) will be required for inspection by Agriculture Canada. All the details of this new service are available on Air Transat’s website.
