Olympic Holidays has donated £55,000 to support the vital work of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity following a year’s fundraising activities.
Clare Tobin, chief executive of the Mediterranean specialist operator, stopped by Alder Hey Children’s Hospital this week to hand over the cheque in person and find out how its funds would support the hospital, one of only a handful of specialist children’s hospitals in the country.
Alder Hey looks after around 275,000 patients and their families every year. Its neonatal surgical unit opened in the 1950s and is one of only five in the country.
The money donated by Olympic has already been earmarked and will fund a sensory room, named Ollie’s Room, designed to reduce stress for youngsters undergoing treatment, as well as three heated cots.
“At Olympic Holidays, we believe charity work is hugely important and throughout 2018, we have been working hard to raise funds for the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital through a series of staff events and charitable donations from our customers,” said Tobin.
“Staff and customers alike have shown great enthusiasm and generosity through organised cake days, BBQs, sporting achievements and online donations. I am immensely grateful to everyone involved.
“The team at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital work tirelessly to provide the very best care to their patients and we really hope our donation will so go some way to support their amazing efforts’ comments Tobin.
