Qatar has updated its visitor entry requirements ahead of the World Cup after reporting record-breaking tourist numbers in July.
The country will become the first Middle Eastern nation to host the tournament when it takes place in November.
As of Sunday (4 September), visitors to Qatar must present a negative PCR test result, taken within 48 hours of departure, or a negative rapid antigen test result, valid within 24 hours.
Qatar has also dropped its red travel list and mask mandate.
Visitors are required to register via Ehteraz, Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health’s pre-registration platform, at least three days before arrival and download the Ehteraz app.
Meanwhile, Qatar has claimed international visitor numbers reached 151,000 during July – its largest number for arrivals during a summer month since 2017 and a 297% year-on-year increase.
The news followed the launch of Qatar Tourism’s new stopover campaign featuring David Beckham, while the country will add more than 100 new hotels and serviced apartments ahead of the World Cup.
