Royal Caribbean has delayed the inaugural sailing of its second Icon-Class ship, Star of the Seas, as the vessel will not be ready in time.
The line has told guests the inaugural sailing, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean tour scheduled to depart Port Canaveral on 17 August 2025, has been cancelled “after a review of the work that remains to be done”, without specifying the exact reason for the two-week delay.
“We’re truly sorry for the impact that this delay has had on your vacation plans,” Royal Caribbean said in an email to guests.
The sailing has been pushed back by two weeks to 31 August 2025, with Royal giving guests booked on the original sailing the opportunity to board the new date and be assigned a like-for-like stateroom.
Alternatively, those still wishing to depart in mid-August will be able to board either Icon of the Seas, which is departing on 16 August, or Wonder of the Seas, which is scheduled to depart on 17 August.
Prices – excluding taxes, fees and other gratuities – will either be protected at the original cruise fare or reduced to current rates, Royal Caribbean added.
Guests can also choose to rebook onto any other Royal Caribbean sailing, although they will have to pay any difference in pricing. Alternatively, they can also cancel and get a full refund.
Customers have until 12 March 2024 to decide or they will automatically be moved to the new inaugural on 31 August.
