Royal Caribbean International has taken delivery of its newest Ocean-class vessel, Wonder of the Seas.
Marking the completion of three years of construction, a traditional flag-changing ceremony took place in Marseille with shipyard partner Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
Wonder will make its official debut in Fort Lauderdale on 4 March to begin sailing seven-night cruises to the Caribbean before heading to Barcelona and Rome to offer summer voyages in the Mediterranean.
Royal Caribbean Group chairman Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean Group president and chief Jason Liberty attended the ceremony alongside Royal Caribbean International president Michael Bayley and Laurent Castaing, general manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
Liberty said the vessel, which can carry around 7,000 passengers and 2,300 crew, will "energise cruising" in a "bolder and bigger way".
"Adding this ship to our already best-in-class fleet elevates the company in continuing to lead the industry with new features and innovation", he added.
"This is one more way that we’re delivering world-class and memorable vacations, responsibly, to guests around the world."
