A specialist operator of more than 25 years has ceased trading as an Atol holder.
Malvern-based East Cape Tours and Safaris (Atol 11153) also traded via eastcapetours.com. The CAA on Monday (2 December) confirmed East Cape’s Atol had lapsed.
On its website, which remains live, the business said it had "been in the tourism industry for more than 25 years".
East Cape specialised in tailor-made safaris to Africa, highlighting Botswana, Kenya and Namibia in particular.
It was also a member of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association and the African Travel and Tourism Association.
The CAA said it was collating information on the company and would provide updates as soon as possible.
Anyone with outstanding bookings are advised not to make claims until further information is provided.
Addressing agents, the CAA said: "If you are holding consumers’ monies that you had not paid to East Cape Tours and Safaris Limited at the time of failure, under the terms of the Atol scheme, you now hold these monies on behalf of the Air Travel Trust. These are termed as ATT pipeline monies. Travel agents should not refund consumers or use these monies for a rebooking unless instructed by the Air Travel Trust."
