EasyJet services to Portugal could be impacted by industrial action early next month.
Cabin crew employed by the carrier in Portugal are set to walk out over 1-3 April in a dispute over pay and conditions. Portugal’s SNPVAC union confirmed the strike plans late last week.
"Due to the economic climate, easyJet workers have lost purchasing power over the last three years," said the union. "The increase in the cost of living suffocates workers and jeopardises the well-being and comfort of their families."
Any action could impact services to capital Lisbon, Porto and Faro, serving the Algarve. Reuters reports easyJet currently bases 19 aircraft in Portugal, and employs more than 750 people.
In a statement, easyJet said: "We are disappointed with this action, especially given the significant investment we have made in the country in recent years, which has created hundreds of new jobs in Portugal. [We] hope SNPVAC will resume a constructive dialogue with us."
