A Travel Counsellor is not only set to fulfil her dream of becoming a published author this week after penning her debut novel, but looks set to do so while achieving record annual sales for a second year in succession.
Guernsey-based Travel Counsellor Nicki Harrison’s debut novel The Withering, the first of a dystopian fantasy trilogy, is due to be released on Friday (18 August) and is inspired by her travels to Canada, Mauritius and New Zealand, as well as the island she calls home.
Harrison praised the work-life balance being a Travel Counsellor afforded her the successes. “I’m absolutely delighted to be releasing my debut novel," she said. "Getting this story from the realms of my imagination and turning it into a real creation has been both an incredible experience and steep learning curve.
“Creating this book only became a possibility due to the work-life balance I’ve achieved since becoming a Travel Counsellor, and is another dream I never imagined would come true alongside a happy and healthy work-life [balance] in a career I truly love.”
Harrison said the book came to life while she was busy running her own travel business last year – her best year ever in terms of sales. And despite her work on the book and its imminent launch, homeworker Harrison said she was on track to hit achieve similar sales this year too.
“We couldn’t be happier to see what Nicki has achieved both as a Travel Counsellor and now as a published author, and it highlights the sheer entrepreneurial spirit of our Travel Counsellors that we have across our entire community,” said Jim Eastwood, Travel Counsellors’ global sales director.
“Also, it just goes to show that with the right support behind you when you find something that you love and are passionate about, you can truly be your best self and the possibilities are endless.”
