Finalists in 16 categories of the Travel Industry Awards 2022 by TTG have been revealed, in the first stage of announcements about the event.
Ratings cast by hundreds of agents last month have helped decide the shortlist in eight agent-judged categories, including Trade Support Team of the Year, three cruise categories, and three tour operator categories.
Panels of travel agent judges, formed largely from TTG’s Top 50 Travel Agencies winners in 2022, will use suppliers’ written submissions to choose the winners during judging sessions in early July.
Finalists in two of these categories (Tour Operator of the Year – Large and Ocean Cruise Line of the Year), will also join agent judges live on video-call to give a short presentation.
The shortlist for six industry-judged categories, including Family Holidays Provider of the Year and Tourist Board of the Year, have also been released. Panels of experienced industry figures will meet in-person to assess the shortlisted submissions and choose winners in July.
There was particular success for Riviera Travel and Jet2holidays on the shortlist this year, both making the cut in three categories, while companies including Gold Medal Travel, Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises are shortlisted in two.
Several brands are also making their debut on the Travel Industry Awards by TTG shortlist, including Adventure Tours UK, Bay Gardens Resort, Black Opal Travel Group and TruTravels.
Finalists in the remaining five travel agent categories, and five ‘fairer travel’ categories, will be announced next Monday (20 June).
The 2022 awards – in association with JetBlue – marks the second year of TTG’s new-style awards programme, which champions smarter, better, fairer travel in line with TTG Media’s mission.
“Despite the challenges that continue to face the sector, there has been overwhelming interest from travel companies this year in entering The Travel Industry Awards by TTG, to share how they’ve adapted to market pressures and continued to put customers first over the last 12 months,” said Daniel Pearce, CEO, TTG Media.
“Our awards ceremony on 29 September will celebrate companies working with TTG towards a smarter, better, fairer travel industry – for customers, for colleagues, and for the places and communities to which we travel. And it is sure to be an incredible night.”
Tickets are now on sale, with three different ticket packages including premium tables of ten (with priority position closer to the entertainment, and five additional bottles of wine or alternative premium non-alcoholic drinks), standard tables of 10, and individual tickets.
