UK arrival numbers to Indonesia have soared this year, with the country achieving more than 500% of its 2022 target for British travellers in the first half of the year – making the UK Indonesia’s best performing tourism market globally.
The figures released by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism reveal that June 2022 alone saw almost 15,000 visitors from the UK, more than 1240% above the country’s UK market target.
Overall, Indonesia tourism is performing well above target with more than 200% of predicted arrivals in June and more than 100% of projected visitors from January to June 2022. Aside from the UK, Australia, India, China and the Netherlands were the top performing markets.
Visit Indonesia Tourism Office UK’s country manager, Richard Hume said: "We are delighted to see the UK achieving so well against target. Time and again, the UK market shows its resilience in bouncing back from a crisis and the latest statistics show that there really is a pent-up demand for travel.
"We expect these numbers to continue to soar for the rest of the year as the world opens up to tourism again. We would like to thank all our trade partners for their continued support to achieve these results."
