Virgin Atlantic will restart flights to Shanghai in 2023 after a more than two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Daily services from Heathrow to the Chinese city will resume on 1 May 2023, with fares starting from £669pp.
The move comes following a relaxation in travel restrictions between the two countries, which sees borders reopening to foreign nationals for the first time since 23 December 2020.
As it did prior to the pandemic, the carrier’s Shanghai flights will operate on a Boeing 787-9, with customers able to choose from three cabins; upper class, premium and economy.
Juha Jarvinen, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic, said: "The return of our Shanghai services has been a long-time coming and I’m delighted it’s finally a reality.
"Shanghai is the final route to return following the global pandemic, restoring our flying programme to full capacity."
