Actor and and filmmaker Taika Waititi has a message for agents, operators and the wider travel trade in the UK and Ireland – "aroha" (love) New Zealand!
Waititi stars in a new video (above) promoting tourism to the destination, which he shot while filming season two of HBO Max series Our Flag Means Death.
The skit showcases a range of destinations and experiences across New Zealand (Aotearoa) such as white water rafting in Rotorua, dolphin watching in Kaikoura, wine tasting in Auckland, and a scenic flight over Mount Tarawera.
The video will be used across Tourism New Zealand’s marketing and promotional work, and will also air on HBO Max channels.
Rene de Monchy, chief executive of New Zealand Tourism, said: “Tourism is an important contributor to New Zealand. It’s one of our top export earners and is supporting sector and country recovery. Competition for visitors is fierce and New Zealand needs to work hard to encourage visitation and stand out.
“We are working hard to attract high quality visitors who will positively contribute to New Zealand’s culture, society, nature and economy," de Monchy added. "This content will target those audiences in key markets to get them thinking about destination New Zealand.”
