Carnival Cruise Line has revealed it is the first cruise line to embark seven million guests from the port of New Orleans (Port NOLA).
The cruise line, which began operations from the port in 1994, had Captain Antonio Modaffari and the ship’s team welcome the Litteral family onboard Carnival Valor on Monday, September 30, with an impromptu celebration to mark the seven millionth embarkation.
Carnival embarks 400,000 guests from Port NOLA annually. Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty sail year-round from the port, with four- to seven-day itineraries visiting destinations in the Bahamas, Mexico and the Caribbean.
In 2025, Carnival Liberty will sail nine voyages from New Orleans that will visit Celebration Key, the cruise line’s new exclusive destination on the island of Grand Bahama, opening in July 2025.
Christine Duffy, president at Carnival Cruise Line, said: “Sharing this landmark embarkation in New Orleans with loyal guests, a family that clearly loves the fun they find when they sail with us, makes this moment truly special. Seven million guests cruising with us from Port NOLA signifies our unwavering commitment as the market leader in this vibrant city. Just after celebrating 30 years of year-round service here this spring, we’re proud to continue building on our important partnership with the New Orleans community.”
