Award-winning bespoke luxury travel agency, Cartology Travel, have put together their predictions for luxury travel in 2025.
New openings: Colombia and Montana
Colombia has not traditionally been on the tourist trail for those travelling through South America, but Justin Huxter, Co-founder of Cartology Travel, says “Colombia is an amazing country with an up-and-coming food scene, lots of adventure, and an incredible variety of landscapes to explore, so it’s perfect for any type of traveller."
Later this year, Four Seasons will open their new hotel in Cartagena, located on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, and known for its rich history.Another emerging luxury destination is Montana in the United States, which will see the opening of One & Only’s first US resort in 2025, One & Only Moonlight Basin.
Different ways to safari
Cartology specialise in unique Africa trips for many of their clients, and for 2025 they are predicting:
● Pairing Zimbabwe and South Africa, thanks to a new flight linking Sabi Sands with Singita Pamushana in southern Zimbabwe
● Sea and water-based safaris: "There are so many experiences that focus more on marine life and ecosystems, and we’re definitely seeing an uptick in trips that journey further into the waters and away from land."
● Continued boom for South Africa: Cape Town is consistently ranked one of the top cities in the world to visit, and with more direct flights coming out of the UK, we are definitely going to see even more travellers coming into South Africa.
Ultra-luxury train travel
2025 will see the launch of Accor’s new Orient Express journeys in Italy, “La Dolce Vita”, shorter itineraries to some of the most iconic and glamorous destinations in Italy. Belmond will also be visiting more of Europe’s most in-demand cities, on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, and in 2025 will be launching a new exclusive carriage with artist JR
Cartology are seeing increased interest from clients in both the Rocky Mountaineer on Canada’s west coast, and Rovos Rail’s Trail of Two Oceans journey across South Africa from Tanzania to Angola. As slow travel continues to grow in popularity, so too will these multi-destination luxury train journeys.
