Newmarket Holidays has reported a 30% growth in sales of long-haul escorted tours since launching its peaks campaign on 26 December.
Growth is being driven by sales to India, with four tours to the country in the operator’s top 10 most popular long-haul itineraries of the year so far.
Japan - which Newmarket Holidays reintroduced as a destination in 2023 - is the operator’s most popular long-haul tour, with Japan Unveiled topping the list of holidays booked since the start of 2025.
Another new destination, Uzbekistan, is sixth on the list, with an exploration of Costa Rica’s wildlife, volcanoes and national parks in third place, a South African safari in seventh, and two North American tours, visiting Canada and Alaska, completing the top 10.
Hayley Morris, Head of Trade and Partnerships at Newmarket Holidays, says travel agents are providing invaluable support for long haul sales.
She commented: "We’ve seen interest in wishlist destinations and adventurous itineraries grow over the past couple of years and agents are perfectly placed to convert this attention into sales by giving people the confidence to book destinations that are outside of their usual comfort zone.
"Our trade team is supporting agents with easy access to marketing assets and extra training on key products to provide deeper insights into long haul destinations and itineraries, and our peaks campaign is backed by discounts of up to 15% and our biggest-ever TV campaign, which is bringing a new audience to escorted tours. We’re delighted with the results so far."
