The luxury travel brand’s first Amazon riverboat is set to make its maiden voyage from the port town of Nauta in mid-2025.
Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group has shared the first images and name of its new Peruvian Amazon riverboat, three months after confirming the launch of the 12-cabin vessel.
The luxury tour operator has called the boat ‘Pure Amazon’, in honour of the ‘pristine beauty and rich diversity’ of the Amazon River, with sales set to open this August.
Scheduled to make its maiden voyage from Peru in mid-2025, the vessel features 10 suites and two single cabins, all of which have been designed by Milan-based Studio Ibsen’s Adriana Granato. The accommodation, which has a capacity of 22 guests, also includes furnishings made by local artisans and floor-to-ceiling windows.
As for its leisure facilities, Pure Amazon offers indoor and outdoor lounges, an outdoor swimming pool, a massage room, a gym, and a restaurant serving dishes influenced by local cuisine. Yoga sessions will be taught on the observation deck in the morning, while treatments inspired by traditional Amazonian healing practices are also available to book.
Passengers will be joined by expert guides on daily excursions that highlight the rainforest’s landscape, including nature walks to explore its unique wildlife and exclusive visits to local villages and communities. Other activities include kayaking and canoeing through tributaries, fishing on the Samiria River, and a night safari to witness the area’s nocturnal creatures.
The riverboat also supports vital conservation projects, including protecting the endangered charapa turtle and preserving the unique pink river dolphin.
It will be featured on A&K’s small group journeys and tailor-made itineraries, offering various ways to experience the Peruvian Amazon, including three or four-night itineraries, or a combination of both on a seven-night cruise.
